Stretching from the French-Swiss border to the North Sea the Western Front was the main theatre of the First World War with the costliest offensives at Verdun, at the Somme, and at Passchendaele with millions of casualties combined. Our tour visits all major sites of this front, and beyond offering lessons and discussions on how the out of date tactics and the new military technology turned this conflict to one of the largest and deadliest wars ever. Under General John. J. Pershing over 2 million doughboys fought in several battles: Cantigny, Belleau Wood, Chateau Thierry, St. Mihiel, and the Meuse-Argonne. We will take you to fields no other tour operator will, including trenches and mine chambers, destroyed villages and the border of Zone Rouge: "Completely devastated. Damage to properties: 100%. Damage to Agriculture: 100%. Impossible to clean. Human life impossible". You will be touring with local historian experts who will have the key to these places.
